What you get with DownReels

A small tool that does one job and stays out of your way.

Reels and post videos

Public Instagram Reels and video posts work with the normal link from the Share button.

Every link style

Links from instagram.com/reel, /reels and /p, share links and links with tracking parameters (?igsh=…) all work.

Best quality

You get the video file Instagram serves for the Reel, so it looks as good as in the app.

Preview first

You see the video and its caption before you download, so you know it's the right one.

Any device

iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux — if it has a modern browser, it works.

No account, no storage

You don't log in to Instagram, and files pass straight through to your device instead of being kept on our side.

An Instagram Reels downloader without the clutter

DownReels turns a public Instagram Reel link into an MP4 you can keep. Paste the link, check the preview and download. There's no daily limit and no pop-ups.

People use it to watch clips offline, back up their own videos, or reuse their own footage in another app.

What you can save

  • Instagram Reels
  • Video posts and IGTV links
  • The best quality Instagram serves
  • A preview and caption before you download

Only public content can be downloaded. Private accounts and anything that needs a login, such as Stories, are not available.

Saving Instagram Reels on your phone or computer

Where the file ends up depends on your device.

iPhone & iPad

Open DownReels in Safari and tap the download button. The file lands in the Files app, under Downloads. To get it into Photos, open it, tap Share, then Save Video.

Android

Chrome and most other browsers save the video to your Downloads folder. A moment later it usually shows up in the gallery too.

Windows, Mac & Linux

Click the download button and the file goes to your browser's Downloads folder. If a video opens in a new tab instead, right-click it and choose Save video as.

If something doesn't work

These are the usual suspects.

It says the video wasn't found

The post is probably private, was deleted, or needs a login to view. Make sure the link opens in a browser where you're not logged in.

It asks me to try again

Instagram sometimes refuses automated requests. Wait a minute and try once more — most of the time that does it.

Only a photo post?

This tool saves videos. A post without a video has nothing to download.

Questions people ask

Is DownReels free?

Yes. There's no limit on downloads, and you don't need an account or an app.

How do I download an Instagram Reel?

Copy the Reel's link in Instagram, paste it into the box at the top of this page and press Download.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any modern browser. On iPhone, use Safari — the file is saved in the Files app and you can move it to Photos from the share menu.

Does it work with video posts, not just Reels?

Yes. Public video posts (instagram.com/p/…) work the same way as Reels.

Can I download private videos or Stories?

No. Only Reels and video posts that anyone can open without logging in are supported.

Why does it say the video is blocked or not found?

Private, deleted and login-only videos can't be downloaded. Sometimes Instagram also rejects a request for a moment — wait a minute and try again.

Do you keep my links or videos?

No. Files stream through to your device and aren't stored on our side. The privacy page has the details.

Is it legal to download Reels?

Saving a video for your own offline viewing is generally fine, but the video still belongs to its creator. Don't re-upload or sell content you don't own, and follow the copyright rules where you live.
